A New Year to Get Financially Organized
Now that we’re halfway through the first month of 2017, many of us are in full swing of aiming to achieve our resolutions, whether they’re related to health, fitness or finances. However, what about when it comes to organizing your life? Staying organized is especially important when it comes to your finances. Here’s why:
While homes definitely require organizing, many people focus too much on the house and not the financial aspects of their life. Finances need organizing, too! Take action now to be in better control of your finances this year.
Start by putting all of your monthly bills on automatic payments—and quit wracking up late fees. While some monthly bills fluctuate and you may want to see the bill before paying them, others remain steady from month to month. Set those on automatic and forget about them!
Also, stop putting your retirement fund and emergency savings account on the back burner. It’s time to start paying yourself first! Add a place in your budget for some of your monthly income to go into those two accounts. Better yet, set it up through your bank or your employer for a certain percentage or amount of your paycheck to go directly into savings.
In addition, organize your financial filing cabinet. Do you keep all your documents in one place? Or is everything all over the place? Take the time to get a financial filing system down so that you’re able to find a document at a moment’s notice, if needed.
