Give Back This Thanksgiving Without Giving Away All Your Money!
“No one has ever become poor by giving.“—Anne Frank
The month of November is a time to reflect on everything we’re thankful for and, if able, give back to our community and to others. Yet the misconception is that you need to give a lot of money in order to be considered as a person who’s “giving back.” This is not the case. There are many things you can do to help others that won’t cost you a fortune.
Give Back & Don’t Go Broke
Charitable drives are a wonderful way to give back that won’t cost you anything more than time. Check with your local schools to see if they’re currently running any drives for children over the holidays, such as Operation Christmas Child or Warm Coats Drive. Even something as simple as shopping via Amazon over the holidays can help to give back, since they will donate a portion of your money spent on gifts to the charitable organization of your choosing. Which means you give back by shopping for your loved ones! It’s a win-win.
Also, don’t discount the act of volunteering! Volunteering your time at a local children’s hospital or soup kitchen is a huge way to give back to your community and help others over the holidays. You can even go as far as to organize a food drive to bring to a local shelter or food bank. Time is just as valuable as money, especially to those in need.
